Seven Meadows
DABBER JONES TROPHY

12th July 2026

Here are the results and the report from yesterday's open memorial match

This annual contest was for the Dabber Jones Trophy on the Avon at Seven meadows and Stannalls. 24 top anglers compeTed and it had a good atmosphere with all the talk about which peg would win on the day. It was Trevor Chalk who won with 19 lb 07 oz, Kelvin Tallett came second with 14 lb 14 oz and Malcolm Barnes was third with 12 lb 08 oz,.

It was good weights considering the hot weather we are having at the moment.

Big thanks to Andy Bruce (ADDAC)who organised it with help from myself (Shipston angling club). The match raised £70 for Shipston-on-Stour and District Angling Club junior anglers which is brilliant.

We now look forward to FISH' n' Frolics 3 Day Festival which starts on Friday, good luck to all the competitors taking part, hopefully it should be a little bit cooler.

Seven Meadow

27th June 2026

We had a Shipston-on-Stour and District Angling Club match at Seven meadows and for me it was unfortunately  mainly  small perch. chub. dace. roach and bleak but great fun on a hot day. Well done to  Peter Kilbride who caught 10 lb 13 oz of roach right the start!

I sneaked into the second spot with 8 lb 04 oz and Gary Didcock did well for third with 7 lb 14 oz . It was a hard match with no chub being caught but two cracking bream were caught by Les Ashby and Ian Harris, well done to them.

It was really hot and considering the temperature it fished well and was a close match. This was a practice match ahead of the FnF festival and it was a good chance to see what it is fishing like.

This week hopefully will be cooler and we can set about bank clearing on the rivers where they have become really overgrown .

Not long now until FISH'N'FROLICS 3 DAY FESTIVAL, Seven meadows is one of the venues along with Aston Magna and the river Stour, this has to be the perfect festival for the title for the Ultimate Angler 2026. Still available to book in if not done so already for this open event which ultimately promotes local fishing in this area for all anglers.

Snitterfield

20thJune

Shipston-on-Stour angling club match at Snitterfield reservoir and it was a nice change of scenery for us, it fished tough for some of us but there were some decent weights and we had a good match.

Les Ashby won again easily with some decent carp up to 15 lb and his total catch was over 50 lb. It was close between Baz Barnes on 32 lb 07 oz and Malcolm Barnes on 32 lb 03 oz with only 5 oz between them and Andy Bruce section winner with 29 lb 08 oz and also Simon Slowther with 17 lb 09 oz.

Colestones Pool

7th June 2026

It was a nice day's fishing with plenty of banter around the pool. It fished harder than normal but that seems to be the case in a lot of matches at the moment.

Tony Avery won the match with 29 lb 01 oz with mostly silvers, Gary Didcock came second with 19 lb 06 oz ,Dave Willis came third with 19 lb 04 oz and Andy Bruce came fourth with 18 lb 14 oz, my 17 lb 02 oz wasn't enough but it was fun and it stayed dry all match.
